Testimonial from Mary McCarthy  | Transformational Leadership

MARCH 2022

During 2014, I had the privilege of being a student of the Transformational Leadership Unit developed and taught by Wendy Quinn, as part of the suite of Post Graduate units delivered by Tabor College Tasmania Inc.

Through Wendy Quinn’s insightful and creative approach to learning and teaching, I encountered a memorable and impactful way of engaging with leadership that extended beyond, albeit inclusive of, advanced leadership principles.

Wendy provided tools and drew out shared experiences that taught deep into the realities of leadership dynamics, leading students through critical reflection and self-examination into an understanding of the mastery of transformation leadership’s complex challenges and rewards.

The teaching equipped students with profound, adaptable tools and methods for digging deep within oneself to root out obstacles and to discover the emerging and hidden leadership qualities and resilience embedded within each student. A unit truly designed to equip leaders for life-long leadership.

The well thought out teaching plan and skillfully designed assessments were refreshing, educational, and contained unique holistic dynamics.

The tools gleaned, have continued to be helpful to me in my leadership roles over the ensuing years, including the personal application of Joseph Campbell’s monomyth “The Heroes Journey” and other creative processes including poetry and reflective writing.

Wendy’s model, whilst engaging in critical reflective thinking processes, went beyond by taking students on a real life journey of encounter with self and others, providing practical tools and reflective practices, that continue to build resilience and stamina for the journey ahead, for which I am most grateful.
